Book Lover’s Day – What Is Your Favorite Book?

What better way to celebrate Book Lover’s Day on August 9 than by reading a book with your little ones? We asked some of our staff members to share their favorite children’s book, and we’d like to know what yours is, too!

Favorite Book: Dear Little Fish by Andre Dahan

Why: I enjoyed this book because it taught you how to love and let go even though that might not be easy to do. And eventually, you might meet again.

Marissa Hackel – Assistant Teacher, Sterling Heights, MI

Favorite Book: Put Me in the Zoo by Robert Lopshire

Why: He wants to join the zoo, but they won’t let him because he looks different. However, once he starts showing the kids his tricks with the spots, they love him. I liked this book when I was younger because he was so colorful and he could do tricks with his spots, and the lesson is to not judge a book by its cover.

Favorite Book: The Napping House by Audrey Wood

Why: I love this book because not only are the illustrations great for children’s imaginations, but the illustrious language paints a creative and hilarious story. This book keeps children wondering and anticipating what is going to happen next.

Favorite Book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Why: I would read this book to my little brother and he would love to see the caterpillar eat his way through the book!

Amber Roberson – Junior Kindergarten Teacher, Colleyville, TX

Favorite Book: Weslandia by Paul Fleischman

Why: It is a captivating underdog story that tells us not only is it okay to be quirky, but that quirkiness can be essential to our success. The oddities that separated Wesley from his peers drove him to create an amazing world that leaves others in awe of his creativity and uniqueness, thus encouraging others to break the mold of normalcy and strive for something truly one of a kind like the land of Weslandia.
