Do you remember what it’s like to be young? To be silly and carefree, when your only job is to learn and have fun? Back then, it was all about the journey and never the destination. Living in the moment was your only choice, and you couldn’t help but be present for every astonishing and joyful second. But as we get older, it can become easier to forget the last time we really had fun, and those times you laugh out loud are fewer and farther between.
This week, we’re celebrating young children. What if we not only celebrated our offspring, but also celebrated WITH them? It’s time to not just relish in the joy of seeing your child learn, grow and play, but to learn grow and play ourselves at the same time. Get silly. Get messy. Enjoy the journey, and re-learn what it feels like to giggle. Celebration is something that should always be about the process, loving every step of the way. After all, who has ever said, “well, let’s hurry up and get this celebrating over with”? No matter how old (you think) you are, a smile and laughter are always the best part of the journey.
Honoring Your Military Families and Friends
April is also the Month of the Military Child! This is a special time to recognize and applaud our nation’s military children for their strength, character and courage and for the sacrifices they make daily. There are 1.7 million American children and youth under 18 with a parent serving in the military, and about 900,000 with one or both parents deployed multiple times. We can all help celebrate this month by recognizing those in our own communities – reaching out to a new military family in our neighborhood or by connecting with one of the organizations dedicated to supporting America’s service members and their families, such as Operation Military Kids. As a thank-you to our troops, Learning Care Group offers all active military members a 10% discount on tuition. Please visit mylearningcaregroup.com/military for additional information.
